Hair Removal Technology

Candela is a non-invasive light therapy device specifically designed to eliminate unwanted hair from any part of the body. Candela generates a gentle pulse of intense, concentrated light which is directed through a small handpiece when it is applied to the body.

This laser energy passes through the skin to the hair follicle, eliminating hair at the root, without damaging delicate pores and structures of the skin. The laser is pulsed (turned on) for only a fraction of a second. The duration of the pulses is carefully calibrated so that laser energy will be absorbed by the hair follicle without transferring excessive heat to the surrounding skin.

Some of the hair which was in the treated follicles is ejected during treatment, and the rest is shed over the next 2-3 weeks.

Unlike some laser hair removal procedures, Candela protects the surface of the skin through a Dynamic Cooling Device. This device sprays a short burst of refreshing serum to the skin to cool and protect the skin from the laser while allowing the laser to treat unwanted hair.

Unlike “hair-by-hair” treatments, Candela’s unique laser uses a wide beam that treats many hairs at once. Because Candela’s gentle pulse technology can treat dozens of hairs with each pulse, it is possible to treat larger areas such as the back, shoulders, arms, legs, and face.

How Many Treatments Does Hair Removal Require?

The number of treatments you will need is tailored based on the area being treated, your natural hair growth in that area, the color of your hair, and the color of your skin. A typical number of treatments is 6, however for darker skin tones and lighter or finer hair 1-2 additional treatments can be anticipated.

Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?

While laser hair removal is painless, you will feel a snap or pin-pointed sensation for less than a second during each pulse (while the laser is turned on). Most patients do not consider it painful.

How Frequently is Laser Hair Removal Performed?

Multiple and consistent hair removal visits are important to achieve results. For some parts of the body, such as the face or neck, treatments can be done every 4-6 weeks, while treatments done to the main part of the body can be done 6-8 weeks apart.

Are There Negative Side Effects?

Our laser hair removal uses a gentle laser that is designed to treat hair follicles while protecting the skin. While every person’s skin may react differently, a mild sunburn look or sensation may take place for a few hours directly after treatment.

What Happens if I Miss an Appointment?

We understand that life can get busy. To achieve the best results, hair removal treatment should be consistent. Should you miss an appointment, it is best to schedule a new visit as soon as possible.

What Do I Need to Do To Prepare for Hair Removal Treatment

Prior to coming in for your hair removal treatment, shave the area being treated. For best results, stay out of the sun mid treatments and do not tan or wax 4-6 weeks prior to treatment.
